Notes

  • I am originally from the Northeast where an Italian hoagies are basically an everyday staple.  Hot (known as a grinder) or cold, every corner sandwich or pizza shop has them.  They are one of our favorite things to eat so we decided to turn them into a gameday snack!  College football rules in our house and these little gems are perfect.
  • Like I said, you can make these cold like we do or throw them in the oven to make them grinders.  If you decide to bake them make sure to brush the top of the rolls with a butter and Italian seasoning mixture so they don’t burn.  Also, maybe add the lettuce after the fact if you don’t like your lettuce hot.
  • You can add or leave out anything here.  Diced up tomatoes and banana peppers would be delicious on these.
  • I use provolone but any cheese will do.
  • If you are using red wine vinegar, I like to add it to the lettuce so it doesn’t absorb into the break and make your rolls too mushy.
